Question
Twilight series vs. Twilight saga?
Ive been seeing debates around on why Twilight is not a saga. This is not a question concerning the horrendous quality of the books, it is a question about how it is referred to and I used the search bar, I didnt find anything of substance, so forgive me if this a repost and what the correct terminology should be. So far every argument for Twilight not being a saga trumps the opposition every time, so Im hoping that someone can coherently put a response together, proving that Twilight is indeed a terrible saga, rather than a terrible series.
Answer
I, personally, ONLY refer to it as a series, this is whybrbrsagasgə sahguh brnounbr . a medieval Icelandic or Norse prose narrative of achievements and events in the history of a personage, family, etc. br. any narrative or legend of heroic exploits. br. Also called saga novel. a form of the novel in which the members or generations of a family or social group are chronicled in a long and leisurely narrative. brbrbrsaga sägə brn. br.br a. A prose narrative usually written in Iceland between and , dealing with the families that first settled Iceland and their descendants, with the histories of the kings of Norway, and with the myths and legends of early Germanic gods and heroes.br b. A modern prose narrative that resembles a saga.br. A long detailed report ex. recounted the saga of their family problems.brbrOnly TWO of those definitions fits, and I believe it to be, quota long detailed reportquot and quotAlso called saga novel. a form of the novel in which the members or generations of a family or social group are chronicled in a long and leisurely narrative.quotbrbrI think they address it as a saga because it sounds cool. Thats the only reason I can think of. Twilight is FAR from Norse, which seems to be the main definition. They call it that because they dont think people will dig too deep and it sounds epic.
